Jo Weiker Brinker

I started teaching at 19, and retired last year(2013) after 46 years. I taught the last 7 years in Florida, at private schools. I've traveled to 37 countries and 50 states. This was my dream. My children live in Florida, Kissimmee and Tampa and we have a place where we are down there about 7months. I have one grandson in Florida in high school. I have worked for Sea World and the last year I have been a volunteer at GiveKids The World, which is the umbrella organization for the Make a Wish Foundation. I greet kids at the airport from all over the world who wish it was to come to Orlando. I also workin the Castle of Miracles, where we have over 125,000 stars representing each one a wish child.What a way to celebrate life. One of the highlights of my teaching was to be able to train as a teacher astronaut. I have been called back to teach VPK in Florida and now have 48years of teaching in my resume.

The Michigan weather left many impressions on the Texas designed school, where we had cubbies the first year and doors on them the second. Who could forget running the?400? In gym in the back entrance road being chased by the trucks that were still involved in building. How about Mr. Such having class in the workshop classroom. I think the saddest moment was getting ready for the Turkey Trot and instead having to go room to room telling about the assassination of President Kennedy. One highlight definitely was being the first graduating class of DMHS. It definitely prepared me for college, being able to complete 4 years in 2, and return to teach in the township.
